Space for Teachers is proud to partner with the UT Austin Center for Space Research as an implementation partner for the SEES Microgravity Research Program
The UT Center for Space Research NASA STEM Enhancement of Earth Science (SEES) Summer Intern Program is a nationally competitive STEM program for high school students. The program provides selected students with exposure to Earth and space research. Interns work directly with experts from NASA, industry, and academia in their field of interest.
By partnering with the Space for Teachers, SEES offers a competitive selection process to fly four students and their research in microgravity onboard a parabolic aircraft. In addition, all student interns work in teams to develop TSL ZQube microgravity experiments, flown on a teacher flight. Data and video are shared out to students and school districts post flight.
SEES, Space for Teachers, and Twiggs Space Lab are working together to make microgravity research more accessible. The ZQube system is a compact, multi-unit research payload built specifically for the SEES microgravity program. To date, SfT has flown 36 team payloads in microgravity on parabolic aircraft, representing over 250 SEES interns. These projects have been presented at professional conferences, and entered in state and national competitions.
